Aw, man, I didn't know Voxtrot broke up until just now. Their 2006 EP Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives was on steady replay on my iPod during my first year of college. These dudes knew how to write a hook. Theirs was the best kind of bubblegum, the stuff that's criminally catchy but substantial enough that you don't feel shallow for loving it. This Austin foursome was a big influence on what we consider to be indie pop these days. In memoriam, here's the video for "Firecracker".
