Some of the most fascinating phenomena of every day life happen when you put one mirror in front of another. Light should bounce forever. You can see the back of your head. Electronica should be fascinating, and that's why Mirrors Reflecting Mirrors is a perfect name for an electronica band.
"Katabasis" is perfectly down-tempo. In fact, I stopped writing this article because I wanted to just turn the lights down and zone out to it for a couple of minutes. All of these songs are great for that. Slow electronica music is often, for me at least, about escaping reality, and Mirrors Reflecting Mirrors makes that possible.
All these tones are beautiful. This music deserves to be enjoyed with the best speakers available. "Migration" begins with small, soft jumps and builds for a couple minutes into a giant cave of reverb. I'd like to ask Clint Hughes how the titles of his songs relate to the music.
Hughes seems to promote his song "Poles Of Inaccessibility" the most heavily. I love the lo-fi drums and the persistent synth wave, but I would stand by "Migration" as the best Mirrors Reflecting Mirrors song. It is my sincerest opinion that works of art should be taken as a whole though, and it seems that this is true for the collective organization of these songs. If you like to chill out, find yourself a half hour or so, and listen to all the Mirrors Reflecting Mirrors songs. You will find it satisfying and fulfilling.
